The results showed that CLKs often chose to reject native Korean pragmatism norms. Their choices were influenced by four factors that included their personalities and multilingual identities, their current lives, as well as their relational affordances. The results of the MQs and DCTs were then analysed using descriptive statistics and z-tests. They were required to complete the DCTs in their native language and to complete the MQs either in their L1 or L2. The results showed that CLKs on average, did not conform to the norms of native speakers in more than 40 percent of their responses. They did this even though they could produce patterns that resembled natives. They were aware of their practical resistance. They attributed their choices to learner-internal factors like their personalities, multilingual identities, and ongoing life experiences. They also spoke of external factors, such as relationships and benefits. They described, for example, how their relationships with their professors allowed them to function more easily in terms of the cultural and linguistic norms at their university.
