How to Replace an Audi A1 keys G28 Engine Speed Sensor

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate fuel, timig and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. 2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. When I start the engine with no sparks i put tissue on top of each injector hole and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car can start when the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in however it is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is zero.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. But i am afraid I may have missed something. Let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor.
